Participants from the Czech Republic and Germany met on Dies Academicus for an excursion to Hrádek nad Nisou.
As part of the Dies Academicus at the HSZG, the Institute for Process Development, Peat and Natural Materials Research(iTN) of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) organized a hydrogeological excursion in the Hrádek nad Nisou region in the Czech Republic together with the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Charles University in Prague (KU) as part of the TESEUS project.
In the first part, the participants had the opportunity to determine hydraulic parameters such as permeability and storage capacity in an aquifer with the help of a pumping test.
The participants, students from the KU Prague and the HSZG, had the opportunity to carry out the tests themselves under the guidance of KU staff. A certain amount of water was pumped out of a well and the lowering of the water level was recorded using a plumb line and probe. Following the field exercises, the students were able to evaluate the measured values themselves at the camp on Lake Kristýna.
In the second part of the excursion, the participants used a tracer method with a sodium chloride solution to determine flow rates at various water cross-sections. This was also followed by an evaluation by the students.
We would like to thank the staff of Charles University on behalf of the iTN and all the excursion participants for the interesting day and the many new impressions and insights that were gained. Děkujimnohokrát!
This event was held as part of the TESEUS project, which is funded by the EU's SN-CZ 2014-2020 program to promote cross-border cooperation between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic. The main objective of the TESEUS project is to bring together different disciplines at different universities in order to create the conditions for improved use of regional environmental resources.
