Starting in October, course participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of a fascinating language.
In October, the one-year certificate course "German Sign Language - Basic Level" starts at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences on the Görlitz campus. The course is aimed at employees in service professions (social professions, employees with customer contact) and students. No previous knowledge is required. An environment that enables the use of DGS is desirable.
Hearing-impaired people need the support of sign language-competent staff in many areas, e.g. education, care, public institutions, everyday situations. Sign language interpreters support these people in their participation in society (keyword inclusion).
German Sign Language (DGS) is an independent language with its own grammar and a specific lexicon. Training in German Sign Language (basic level) takes place in accordance with the valid framework curriculum. Nicole Friedrich, qualified sign language instructor and member of the Federal Association of Sign Language Instructors (Bundesverband der Dozenten für Gebärdensprache e.V.), leads this training course.
Learning objectives of lessons 01 to 10 (200 units): Here you will learn to express yourself in sign language. Further objectives:
- Recognize the structure and regularity of sign language
- Getting to know deaf culture
- Gain a basic understanding of the language, sign and understand simple sentences
- Introduction to linguistics and memory training
Completion:
Final examination and certificate "Additional qualification in German Sign Language". On completion of the basic level of language training, participants have acquired good communication skills in DGS. The language requirements for taking up a further advanced course or studying sign language are fulfilled.
