Training, consulting and coaching with scenic means were successfully practiced at the Winter School 2018.
"Acting out new behaviors, forms of expression and attitudes in playful interaction with others can encourage people to become aware of and even soften entrenched automatisms or blockages. In the safe space of the fictional stage reality, there is the opportunity to try and identify with aspects that are not or less lived in everyday life. This can have a liberating and stabilizing effect on the person playing." (Jürgen Weintz, theater educator)
These words aptly describe the workshop week on the island of Usedom in the DRK seminar house "Hausbrainstorm ". Just behind the dunes, sixteen participants, two lecturers and two project staff worked on how to consciously perceive one's own body and use it effectively as a resource, and how to externalize inner processes in a way that is appropriate to the situation and goal-oriented.
To this end, the winter school built on the work of previous workshops, which focused on the "train by train" method as a conceivable coaching approach. "Train by train" accompanied the participants as a working framework and method of playful interaction.
Together with Daniela Schober, trainer and consultant for managers with many years of experience on stage and in front of television cameras, the participants developed concrete knowledge about status effects, communication techniques and behavioral preferences via "move by move". Bodywork was used to sensitize participants to their own body perception and external impact. Further support was provided by communication psychologist and actor Maurice Ittershagen.
Theater director and author Andreas Neu and Berlin actress Jasmin Wyszka used "Zug um Zug" to explore the participants' motivations for action and interpersonal conflicts. The aim was to make inner processes visible, playable and reflectable. At the end of the workshop, the participants gained a better understanding of individual drives and resistance and were able to try out alternative courses of action.
Participating communication psychologist Dr. Jörg Heidig combined this preparatory work with the opportunity to use archetypes on the playing surface to make inner processes even more tangible.
During the busy week, the participants experienced for themselves that training, consulting and coaching can work with scenic means and what resources are released on a very personal level when physicality, action and play complement mere "talking about it". The thought does not just remain a thought or a word, but leads the body.
In summary, the Winter School was not only a trip to the sea, but also a kind of inner journey. The feedback from the participants showed that it was also a very eventful journey.
