Be part of the flash mob

HSZG takes part in Europe-wide participatory campaign in which yellow bee feeders are set up and planted in public places at the same time.

On May 20, 2025, the Beedabei Flashmob took place for the fifth time - a Europe-wide participatory action in which yellow bee feeders were simultaneously set up and planted in public places to draw attention to insect mortality and the loss of biodiversity. Flashmob 5.0 was held under the motto "Europe is blooming!" and once again brought together numerous cities, municipalities, schools and initiatives to send a clear signal for the preservation of bees and other pollinators.

The bright yellow Beedabei boxes made the commitment to biodiversity visible and invited passers-by to engage with the topic of environmental and species protection. The participants can be found on the map of Germany on the Beedabei website and we in Zittau are also there! The photos and videos of the Flashmob 5.0 2025 can be found on all social media channels under the hashtag #Beedabei or with the tag @Beedabei .

Urban gardening in the Amaliengarten - beehives planted again

The Beedabei idea is also being carried forward in Zittau. As part of the Amaliengarten urban gardening project at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the yellow bee boxes have been replanted. Bee-friendly plants such as sage, purple basil and rosemary are now growing again in the bee boxes. These provide food for wild bees, bumblebees and other pollinators. The boxes will now be distributed throughout the city again to draw attention to wild bees and other insects.

Get involved yourself!

The Amaliengarten at Amalienstraße 7-11 is open to everyone as a green island in the city center. Our work assignments always take place in the even calendar week from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Feel free to drop by!
