At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz (HSZG), Department of Studies and International Affairs (DSI), a position (1.0 FTE) is available at the earliest possible date as

Head of Department (m, f, d) Studies and International Affairs - Keyword: DSI -

to be filled on a permanent basis.

The Department of Studies and International Affairs is part of the university administration and plays a key role for the Rectorate and the faculties of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Its main areas of activity are the admission and enrolment process, student and examination administration, teaching staff deployment and space planning, the conclusion and supervision of university partnerships and the supervision of foreign students. The Department of Studies and International Affairs sees itself as a service facility for applicants, students and teaching staff.

Its activities include the following tasks in particular:

 

  • Management of the department with the departments
    • Advice, admissions and student management
    • Teaching, study and examination management and
    • International Office/Academic International Office

including continuous adaptation and development of business processes in line with current requirements in terms of digitalization, data security and attractiveness for the various user groups,

  • Responsibility for the selection of applicants, aptitude assessment, admission and enrollment of applicants, leave of absence and de-registration of students as well as the academic year on the basis of the Saxon Higher Education Freedom Act and relevant regulations of the HSZG,
  • Responsibility for the legally sound design of examination regulations and their implementation in the central examination office, member of the central examination board of the HSZG,
  • Responsibility for the organization of studies at both locations of the university (timetabling and room planning),
  • Leading use of the components of the campus management system "HISinOne" of HIS eG and their permanent adaptation to the student administration process,
  • Elaboration of relevant procedural rules and regulations,
  • Preparation of selected reports and statistics on admissions and participation in the determination of admission capacity in the degree programs and
  • intensive cooperation with the Vice-Rectorate Education and International Affairs.

The following knowledge and skills are required

 

  • Academic degree (university Master's degree or diploma, accredited Master's degree from a university of applied sciences or comparable), preferably in the field of public administration,
  • knowledge and several years of practical professional experience in the field of process development and project management, preferably in the higher education sector,
  • knowledge of admission and enrollment processes,
  • good knowledge of written and spoken English,
  • management experience as well as communication and social skills.

  • Experience with the HIS application "Campusmanagement" or comparable software solutions

Further information

The post is assigned to the second entry level of career group 2 and offers development opportunities up to grade A 14. The remuneration for employees is determined by the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). If the personal requirements are met, the position will be classified in pay group 14 TV-L. The position is not suitable for part-time employment.
The first place of work is Zittau. A probationary period will be agreed. The HSZG strives for a balanced employee structure and therefore welcomes applications from people of all genders. Severely disabled persons will be given preference if they have the same professional qualifications.
