ELITENMONITOR transfer event with public conference in Leipzig
On May 15 and 16, 2025, the Forum of Contemporary History Leipzig, a transfer event of the ELITENMONITOR research project will take place, which will also mark the public conclusion of the project.

The purpose of the conference is to communicate and discuss the key findings of the Elite Monitor regarding unequal access opportunities of social groups to leadership and elite positions with the interested public. These results will be discussed with experts and practitioners from various social sectors and the public. The focus is on raising awareness of the problem area, highlighting similarities and differences between the underrepresented groups and discussing possible options for action.
Admission to the conference is free and is also possible during each break. Registration is not required.
The aim of the academic workshop is to discuss current research on the extent, causes and consequences of the underrepresentation of social groups in leadership and elite positions in Germany with the interested specialist community.
The research team of the sub-project of the ELITE MONITOR, which is based at the HSZG, will contribute current results of the evaluation of interviews with elite members regarding obstacles to advancement and bottlenecks. It will also be represented at the academic workshop with the contribution "East German (elite) habitus: theses on a logic of differentiation", in which it will discuss aspects of habitual alienation and possible cultural differences in the context of social stratification processes, generational positioning and social advancement.
