At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, the project "RegIA - Verbleib internationaler Hochschulabsolventinnen und -absolventen in Deutschland: Individual, institutional and regional factors" in conjunction with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funded project "Perspectives of international university graduates in Germany from an employer's perspective" (PIHADA)" at the earliest possible date for a position (30 hours/week) as a

 

Research Assistant (m/f/d)

- Keyword: RegIA -

 

to be filled for a limited period until 30.09.2025. The position offers the possibility of a cooperative doctorate.

The RegIA project is investigating the individual, institutional and regional factors that influence whether international students remain in Germany after graduation. To this end, existing data from national student surveys is being evaluated and an experimental focus survey conducted among international students in the final phase of their studies. Based on a survey of employers, the PIHADA project examines their perspective on the retention and employability of international students in Germany.

The position holder (m/f/d) will be responsible for the following tasks in particular:

  • Scientific research on the research project,
  • Preparation and statistical analysis of existing quantitative survey data,
  • Collaboration in the implementation of survey experiments,
  • Preparation, documentation and presentation of research results at conferences,
  • Support with publication in national and international peer-reviewed journals,
  • Support in project administration and organization, including the preparation of project reports.

 

The following knowledge and skills are required

 

  • Completed academic university degree related to the above-mentioned field of work and with a focus on empirical social research, preferably in the social sciences, economics or education (Master's degree, diploma, accredited Master's degree from a university of applied sciences)
  • Very good or expandable knowledge in the collection and analysis of quantitative data,
  • very good written and spoken English.

 

In addition, the following are desirable

 

  • Knowledge of multivariate statistics,
  • Confident handling of data analysis software (SPSS, Stata, R),
  • Knowledge of experimental methods in the social sciences,
  • experience in research and project management.
