At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, as part of the project “RegIA – Retention of International University Graduates in Germany: Individual, Institutional, and Regional Factors,” funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture, and Tourism (SMWK), in conjunction with the project “Perspectives of International University Graduates in Germany from an Employer’s Perspective” (PIHADA),” we are seeking to fill a position (30 hours/week) as
Research Assistant (m/f/d)

fixed-term until September 30, 2025. The position offers the opportunity to pursue a collaborative Ph.D.
The RegIA project examines the individual, institutional, and regional factors that influence whether international students remain in Germany after graduation. To this end, existing data from national student surveys are analyzed, and an experimental focus group survey is conducted among international students in the final phase of their studies. The PIHADA project examines employers’ perspectives on the retention and employability of international students in Germany based on a survey of employers.
The position (open to all genders) specifically involves the following responsibilities:
- Conducting academic research related to the research project,
- Preparation and statistical analysis of existing quantitative survey data,
- Assistance in conducting survey experiments,
- Processing, documenting, and presenting research findings at conferences,
- Assistance with publication in national and international peer-reviewed journals,
- Assistance with project management and organization, including the preparation of project reports.
The following knowledge and skills are required:
- a completed academic degree related to the above-mentioned area of responsibility and with a focus on empirical social research, preferably in the social sciences, economics, or education (Master’s, Diplom, or accredited Master’s from a university of applied sciences)
- Good or developable knowledge of collecting and analyzing quantitative data,
- good written and spoken English skills.
In addition, the following are desirable:
- knowledge of multivariate statistics,
- proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, Stata, R),
- knowledge of experimental methods in the Social Sciences,
- experience in research and project management.

Salary will be paid up to Pay Grade 13 of the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the candidate meets the personal and professional requirements.
