At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the Center for Knowledge Transfer and Education (ZWB), which is affiliated to the Vice-Rectorate for Education and International Affairs, a full-time position (40 hours/week) is available as part of the joint project "studienerfolg@saxHAW" funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) at the earliest possible date as a

 Research assistant (m/f/d) Orientation year and competence measurement

to be filled for a limited period until 31.03.2026 .

The five Saxon universities of applied sciences (HAW) - Leipzig, Dresden, Mittweida, Zittau-Görlitz and Zwickau - are working together to implement the innovative project "studienerfolg@saxHAW". The aim is to increase student success and counteract the expected shortage of skilled workers on the (Saxon) job market. At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, various study success measures are planned and implemented along the student life cycle and in cooperation with the structural units during the project period.

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences intends to introduce an orientation year at the university and at the same time to integrate competence measurement and support for competence development among first-year students through tailor-made educational offers and mentoring. The aim of these efforts is to facilitate the transition from school to university, to give first-year students a clear direction and to provide them with the tools - tailored to their individual needs - and to develop the skills that are important for their academic success and professional career.

During the project funding period, the necessary legal basis will be examined and close cooperation between the faculties and the generation of participants will be ensured in order to realize the conception and implementation of an orientation year at the HSZG.

The position includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Development of an educational program for an orientation year at the HSZG based on existing models and formats in the academic field,
  • Planning, execution and implementation of a pilot project for the introduction of an orientation year at the HSZG in cooperation with a reference faculty,
  • Reviewing the necessary legal basis and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines,
  • Determining the basis for integrating the orientation year into the general educational program of the HSZG,
  • Close cooperation with the faculties to ensure effective integration of the orientation year into the course of studies,
  • Development of a marketing concept, measures to increase the attractiveness and generation of participants for the program,
  • Planning and implementation of the area of competence measurement and competence development in the course of the orientation year in order to support the individual development of students and increase the effectiveness of the program,
  • Preparation of reports and presentations to document the progress and results of the project.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed scientific university degree,
  • experience in the coordination and implementation of educational projects, ideally in a university context,
  • Experience in the field of competence measurement and development,
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate complex projects independently,
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office applications,
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders,
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure in a dynamically evolving project environment.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Professional experience in higher education or school operations,
  • pedagogical or didactic skills,
  • knowledge and experience in project management,
  • a working knowledge of English.

If the personal and professional requirements are met, remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TV-L. The 1st place of work is Zittau.
