Dr. Herzig, a former student of the department, was a guest at the computer science colloquium on May 17. He studied computer science in the second year of his Bachelor's degree in Görlitz and praised this education as the basis for his future career. Since completing his doctorate at the TU Dresden, Mr. Herzig has been working at the SAP Innovation Center Potsdam on the development of new SAP products, primarily for use in the cloud.
Under the title " Bi-Modal IT as an architectural style for transforming large business systems into the Cloud", Mr. Herzig spoke about current solutions to improve the availability of cloud applications. In contrast to many other application areas, it is crucial for many SAP customers to always have up-to-date and correct information available. Since, according to the CAP theorem, it is not possible to fully guarantee availability and timeliness at the same time, his team at SAP, among others, is researching and developing solutions for a good compromise.
In addition to these highly relevant technical questions and answers, Mr. Herzig also gave a good insight into his work at SAP and his career, which many of the students in the audience found very motivating and inspiring. He would be delighted to welcome committed applicants from Görlitz to his team. A current job advertisement can be viewed here.
