With this quote from Henri Cartier-Bresson, student Selma Israel describes her attitude to photography.
Photography has been a part of Selma's life for three years - back then she was still in front of the camera as a model for a friend. This experience and the realization that "you can simply capture such beautiful moments [with photos, editor's note] and [...] some pictures [...] just look so indescribably beautiful [editor's note]", according to Selma, prompted her to complete her practical photography lessons from 8th to 10th grade. Since then, she has often been seen roaming the countryside with her own camera - even at half past 5 in the morning - to capture the most beautiful (light) moments.

With the exhibition in the Zittau University Library, Selma has ventured into new territory at the end of her practical lessons: portraits, as they can be seen now, had never been part of her repertoire before. And as she has found happiness in photography, she wants to use these pictures to show people who are just as happy in a wide variety of ways.

The exhibition "Glück - Wenn Lachen dein Leben bestimmt" can be seen from April 24 to June 23, 2017 at the Zittau University Library, Hochwaldstraße 12, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
