On the morning of September 12, part of the Executive Board of the VDE Dresden met with the Zittau university group, which was founded on 16.10.2019, to get to know each other in Königstein. A fast-paced start to the meeting was guaranteed by a trip on a powerboat on the Elbe organized by the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG). The powerful 270 hp and quick changes of direction by the boat driver made for an exciting ride and many twirled hairdos.

After the boat trip, we took the ferry to Halbestadt to satisfy our hunger after the Elbe trip at the DAS STEINGUT restaurant. There, the VDE Dresden board and the HSZG were finally able to get to know each other in peace. The board presented the structures, events and key aspects of the association's work at VDE Dresden. The HSZG reported on its founding history (see also Dresdner Mitteilungen issue 1/2020) and talked about ideas for joint cooperation in the future. In particular, the integration, networking and promotion in and by VDE Dresden as well as the VDE as a platform for knowledge exchange were presented as key focal points. This exchange was then put into practice over the course of the meal, with lively discussions about projects, study content and current research.

After the meal, the VDE Dresden and HSZG board members parted ways - the students continued their journey to the Hotel Sonnenhof in Hinterhermsdorf, where a first joint hike to a nearby viewing tower followed by a convivial dinner awaited them. To round off the weekend, the students donned functional clothing and went on a long hike to explore the beautiful landscape of Saxon Switzerland.

We are looking forward to the future together and hope for lively exchanges and many joint events!
