Inclusion / Accessibility

People - Togetherness - Participation - Diversity - Dignity

At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, people with and without disabilities move around. These are mainly students, employees, members of companies, pupils.

Disabilities are diverse in their manifestations and can overlap: moving, hearing, speaking, seeing, mental, chronic, partial performance disorder, etc..

The aim of inclusion at the HSZG is to establish good conditions for full participation in the sense of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) at our locations in Zittau and Görlitz.

However, the concern of those affected about stigmatization still impairs the implementation of inclusion. This is expressed, for example, in the fact that around two thirds of students with impairments at German universities do not make use of the existing support services (cf. BEST studies 2013 and 2018, Deutsches Studentenwerk).

The HSZG has defined important topics or goals for the implementation of inclusion with its Action Plan Inclusion, which was approved by the Senate in 2018. The Inclusion Steering Committee established for this purpose has already brought some of this to fruition.

Below you can read detailed information on the implementation of inclusion at our university.
