Be it the optimization of power station processes and automation technology, be it biotechnology, specific surface properties for high voltage fittings or socio-regional development processes – the specialist expertise of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is widely known and in great demand, both in industry and society and among the research community at large.

Research Profile

The research spectrum covered by projects undertaken at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences features three special foci, which in turn highlight the broad variety of what we have to offer:

  • Energy and the Environment
  • Transformation Processes in Industry and Society
  • Materials - Structures - Surfaces

Research Institutes

From these traditional research foci a number of research institutes have emerged. Working in part in cross-faculty cooperation, our professors are actively involved in a wide range of research projects.

Research in Our Faculties

Our Faculty research information pages offer an overview of our research groups and research foci, giving, in individual cases, detailed descriptions of the projects involved and announcing forthcoming presentations and conferences.

Research Funding

For the development and realization of innovative ideas, projects and technologies the German state, German industry and individual organizations make financial resources available, while the University itself provides the organizational infrastructure.

Partners in Cooperation

As a result of these research activities, the University has a wide variety of close, long-term cooperation arrangements with companies and other partners.

The Science Research Year

The Science Research Year provides the organizational framework for congresses and conferences initiated and run by our faculties and institutes in the course of a university academic year cycle.
