A lecture "The relations of North Bohemia and Upper Lusatia in the Middle Ages" with lecturer Dr. Rudolf Andel, Liberec (left fig.) reflected historical events in overview. The encounter with museum evidence in the North Bohemian Museum (right fig.) in the afternoon illustrated what was heard.
December 9, 2009: Civic engagement honored - Three seniors active as volunteers were thanked for their work at the university at the end of the semester. Professor Rainer Hampel thanked Inge and Bernd Nowack (m.) and Dipl.oec. Brigitte Nitsche (2nd from right) for their civic engagement. For almost ten years they actively participated in the working group Seniorenkolleg of the University of Zittau/Görlitz. Brigitte Nitsche took part in a job creation scheme (ABM) as part of a Zittau "EXPO 2000" project at the university. Afterwards, she worked at Studium fundamentale, under whose direction the Seniorenkolleg was founded.

July 2, 2008: Joint excursion to Rietschen. On the topic "Who is afraid of the bad wolf?" 30 colleague participants informed themselves about the work of the contact office "Wolfsregion Lausitz" in Rietschen. On behalf of the contact office, nature guide Stephan Kaasche gave a lecture about this in the "Wolf Barn" of the Erlichthof settlement. After visiting the exhibition there, a tour of the heath and pond area at the Erlichthof and the Schrotholzhaussiedlung was undertaken.

April 16, 2008: Guest visit of the senior academy of the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences. The Lower Lusatians visited the city of Görlitz as part of an excursion and paid a visit to the university in the afternoon. May 16, 2007: Some of the senior college listeners chose Zittauer Kunststoff GmbH to visit. As part of the joint excursion "Plastics processing and surface technology in Zittau", two other innovative technology-oriented companies were visited simultaneously by colleague listeners.
May 9, 2007: The Senior Citizens' College honors Europe Day 2007 with a lecture on "European Politics Today and the Reasons for Some Countries' No to the EU Constitution". The lecture was given by Jakob Lempp M.A., TU Dresden.
October 25, 2006: "Global Climate Change and Worldwide Energy Demand" an engaging lecture by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Bernd Delakowitz, FB Mathematik /Naturwissenschaften. The lecture took place in the new lecture hall building, now also used by the Seniorenkolleg.
July 5, 2006: Excursion "Lusatian glass - past and present". Introduction to the topic in the glass museum Weißwasser. Afterwards Dr. Olaf Seidel welcomed the participants to a factory tour at the glass manufacturer Stölzle Lausitz GmbH Weißwasser.
