Duration and financing

Teaching visits are possible from two days up to two months. Travel costs can be reimbursed (2 days). However, for budget reasons HSZG can only guarantee a financing for 5 days in one academic year (including travel days). Travel and subsistence are looked at differently:

Travel expenses will be calculated on a one-way basis. The place of departure does not necessarily have to be the address of the sending institution. HSZG will not assume any liability for damages to cars, private or rented.

The calculation of subsistence costs will be based on a day rate and differ from country to country:

Grant Agreement

Before you go, we will send you a Grant Agreement that includes information on the amount of support you receive and other important terms regarding your visit. This Agreement must be signed by you and sent back in duplicate (including the original copy).

The minimum number of teaching hours is eight over your entire STA period, irrespective of whether you stay for two or seven days. You can only receive support for days you have actually taught. Make sure to keep records and confirmations of any teaching assignments on weekends or bank holidays.

Travel expenses

The requirements for the reimbursement of expenses were changed in the academic year 2014/15. You can now claim amounts for travel and subsistence without receipts. However, please do keep your travel vouchers (airline tickets, hotel bills, bus tickets etc), as we have to report any lump sums paid to the revenue office. They may be needed to serve as proof of expense on your tax return.

Your travel and subsistence grant must be supported by complete application documents and your final report. Any lump sumps paid will be reclaimed from you if necessary documents are missing.
