Foreign Students' College

At the College, students from many foreign countries, with a great range of religious and political beliefs and from widely differing educational backgrounds, receive a variety of courses aimed at one and the same goal – preparing them for taking up a degree course at either a German university or another tertiary edcuation institution.

The College thus sets out to:

  • give non-German applicants, who are in possession of a foreign university entrance certificate, the necessary language and specialist skills required to pursue studies in the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • make non-German applicants aware of and familiar with the academic and scientific methods habitually used at German universities and universities of applied sciences.
  • administer the requisite aptitude tests (FSP) and final exams (DSH).

Who needs to attend a Foreign Students’ College?

  • Foreign students wishing to take up a course of study at a German university or university of applied sciences, who do not meet the requirements for direct entry must, before taking up their studies, have passed the FSP knowledge and aptitude exams. Students can prepare for the FSP exams by taking a two-semester course (Schwerpunktkurs) at the Foreign Students’ College.
  • Foreign students wishing to take up a course of study at a German university or university of applied sciences, who do meet the requirements for direct entry must, before taking up their studies, have passed the DSH exam. Students can prepare for the DSH exam by taking a one-semester course at the Foreign Students’ College.
